THE STORY
Because of a late collaboration with VH-1, Junefest 5 became the biggest and most diverse of all the festivals. Two
stages were constructed at the east and west ends of the soccer fields next to Sam Boyd Stadium, which allowed for
that much more music. Penn & Teller turned up as surprise backstage guests, and Penn was told he'd never perform on
VH-1 again when he angered a producer by swearing during a taping. Warrior scored an impromptu interview with Carlos
Santana just before his incredible set, and Bob Weir's Ratdog brought back memories of the great series of Grateful
Dead concerts at the Stadium in the background.
